Vision Dance Academy offers a teaching assistant program in order to train dancers that are interested in following a career in dance education.
Teaching Assistant and Teaching Apprentice Programs
The Teaching Assistant program at Vision Dance Academy is offered to Intermediate and Senior students who are interested in developing experience working with young children and teaching dance. This is an excellent way for students to gain high school volunteer hours; develop childcare skills in a supervised environment (e.g., for those who want to babysit); and learn about teaching dance. All Teaching Assistants who successfully complete their volunteer term in a dance year will earn a certificate and reference letter, which can be used for school, volunteer, or work applications.
The Teaching Apprentice program at Vision Dance Academy is offered to Intermediate and Senior students who have been a Teaching Assistant for a minimum of 2 years. This is a paid position on the Vision Dance Academy Faculty. These students must be at the point where they are able to start leading a class themselves. All Teaching Apprentices who successfully complete a dance year will earn a certificate and reference letter, which can be used for school, volunteer, or work applications.
All Teaching Assistants and Teaching Apprentices will receive training inside the classes they assist.
Please note: Application to the program does not guarantee that you will be selected.
Members of the teaching assistant program are required to apply each summer.
